2 Youths Drown While Bathing In Birupa River In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Two youths drowned while taking bath in Birupa river in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Friday.

According to sources, the youths, identified as Krushna Chandra Sahu and Mayank Sahu of Khurdasahi under Choudwar police station in the district, had gone to bath in the river in the afternoon.

While bathing, they went into deep water and were caught in a strong current. As they tried to swim against and the current and shouted for help, some locals rushed to their rescue.

By the time Krushna and Mayank were rescued and brought to the river bank, they had lost consciousness. On being informed, a team from Choudwar police station went to the spot and rushed the two youths to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack in an ambulance.

But the doctors in the SCB Hospital announced both Krushna and Mayank dead on arrival. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and assure the families of the deceased of handing over the bodies after post-mortem.
