Puri: Acting on the complaints of the people about a gang demanding extortion money, the police have arrested 20 anti-socials from different localities of the town in a special drive.
Talking to mediapersons on Sunday, Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh said a special team of police has been formed to nab the anti-socials who threaten the people and forcibly collect the extortion money from them.
Requesting the people to inform the police against the anti-socials without fear, the SP said they can lodge the complaint and provide details of the anti-socials in their areas on the WhatsApp number 9437378000 to enable them to take immediate action.
To ensure the privacy and safety of the people, police will keep their names secret, the SP pointed out.
Singh said among the 20 anti-socials arrested by the police, one was arrested by the Talabania Police, four by the Sea Beach and five each by the Baliapanda, Baseli Sahi and Town Police.
