Bhubaneswar: The office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Sunday confirmed 26 deaths due to sunstroke in Odisha this season.
Of these, 20 died in the last 3 days.
A total of 99 suspected sunstroke deaths were reported from different districts in the last 72 hours. After postmortem and inquiry, 20 were confirmed as sunstroke deaths and two for other reasons. Previously (till May 30), six of 42 suspected cases were confirmed as sunstroke deaths while another six deaths happened due to other causes.
Another 107 cases are pending with the collectors for inquiry, it added.
