Additional Public Prosecutor Satyanarayan Tripathy said the convicts had attacked and killed one Manas Kumar Baliarsingh of Balajitpur village for cutting a tree on government land in the locality on September 12, 2012.
They had also assaulted and injured the uncle and aunt of the deceased. The Kanas police had registered a case in this connection and around 24 24 witnesses were examined during the trial, which went on for 10 years, he added.
