Jeypore: A Jeypore Fast Track court on Monday convicted a youth to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 20 years and fined Rs 25,000 for kidnapping a college girl on three counts. Failure to pay the fine would attract another jail term of 15 months, the judge read out in his verdict.
According to sources, fast track judge Pradip Kumar Sasmal awarded the punishment to accused Suman Bagh on charges of kidnapping a minor girl of Bisingpur while she was going to college on July 30, 2015.
On the basis of the complaint of the girl’s relatives, the police on September 10 rescued the girl from Chitrakonda area and arrested Suman before forwarding him to police. Special public prosecutor Sudhir Tripathy argued in favour of the complainant.
