Bhubaneswar: A 20-year-old walked out of SUM COVID Hospital in the Odisha capital after battling the disease for about a month on Friday.
Pratiksh Kadambalu of Muniguda in Rayagada district was rushed to the hospital for treatment in a serious condition on April 30 after testing positive for the infection.
He was taken to the ICU and as his condition deteriorated, he was put on the ventilator. Subsequently, a tracheostomy was done on him to deliver oxygen to the lungs.
The concerted efforts of the doctors, nurses and para-medical workers helped Pratiksh recover and he was shifted to the ward.
The Plus III student tested negative for COVID-19 after about a month and was discharged from the hospital.
Relatives of Pratiksh said the hospital help desk remained in continuous touch with the family. They were also able to interact with him through video calls. “We are grateful to the doctors and nurses for the way they took care of Pratiksh providing him a new lease of life,” Sudhir Sahu, a relative said.
