20-Year-Old Youth Held For School Peon’s ‘Murder’ In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: A 20-year-old youth has been arrested for the alleged murder of a school peon within Chandaka police limits, on the outskirts of Odisha capital, Monday night.

According to police sources, 58-year-old Bansidhar Jena went to purchase dinner with the accused, Prakash Balabantaray, on a motorcycle and they consumed alcohol on Paikarapur hill the same night.

Jena worked as a peon at Paikarapur high school.

However, a heated exchange broke out between them after Jena reportedly passed a comment on Balabantaray’s parents and his transgender sibling. In a fit of rage, Balabantaray then hit Jena’s head and face with stones and killed him on the spot. He then fled the spot with his egg biryani.

Police tracked down Balabantaray after Jena’s brother-in-law informed about having transferred Rs 1,000 online to the account of the former’s brother on Monday night and shared phone number linked with the bank account.
