200-Litres Illicit Liquor Seized, 8 Arrested In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: A team of Bhubaneswar Excise Department and Cuttack Flying Squad arrested eight persons and seized 200 litres of country-made liquor from them in Odisha capital on Friday.

The teams jointly conducted simultaneous raids at Nayapalli, Delta area, Salia Sahi and Munda Sahi in the city.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sara Soren (50), Dulari Tudu (22), Siniga Hembram (50), Puspanjali Nayak (35), Chandra Marandi (50), Barisal Hansda (29), Upendra Marandi (45) and Durga Hembram (27).

The squad seized 200 litres of country-made liquor from them and destroyed 5,700 litres of Gur wash.

The raids were carried out by police officers Prasanna Acharya (Supdt), Santanu Das, Sarat Chandra Bhanja, Hrudaya Samanta, Madhusudan Sahoo, Hitanshu Mallik, Kamal Paikrai, Sujit Muduli and other staff.

Further investigation into the matter is on.
