Mumbai: A few days ago, Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta made shocking revelations about being harassed and intimidated by Nana Patekar on the sets of 2008 movie ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’.
Many celebrities, including Bollywood actors, came out in support of Tanushree and now the Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) have also condemned the act of harassment. “CINTAA strongly condemns any act that outrages the modesty of any individual and any form of sexual harassment is unacceptable to us,” an official statement said.
It also confessed that the decision taken by CINTAA in 2008 was inappropriate. “After going through Dutta’s complaint, which was filed with the then executive committee of CINTAA in March 2008, we feel that the decision taken in the joint dispute settlement committee of CINTAA and Indian film and TV producers council (which was then known as Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers) in July 2008 was not appropriate, as the chief grievance of sexual harassment was not even addressed,” it added.
CINTAA officials have further urged people to come and report such incidents immediately. Tanushree Dutta had spoken about the harassment she faced then but to no avail.
CINTAA further said, “Unfortunately, CINTAA’s constitution bars us from taking up any case which is more than three years old. Hence, we appeal to the authorities to take cognizance of Ms Dutta’s statements and conduct an impartial and speedy enquiry so that the truth and justice may prevail.”
