Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the arrest of former Brajarajnagar MLA Anup Sai in the brutal murder of Kalpana Das and her minor daughter inside the forest in Hamirpur in Chhattisgarh on May 7, 2016, his deaf and mute daughter Shubhasmita on Monday sought the intervention of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) in the matter.
Stating that her father’s arrest by Raigarh Police is illegal, Shubhasmita told the Commission that the arrest has tarnished her family’s reputation in Brajarajnagar. “The Raigarh Police have forcibly made my father an accused in the murder case. As I am a physically challenged girl, my future is at stake,” she said and prayed to the Commission to take action against Raigarh Police and direct the Odisha government to provide adequate security to her family.
Meanwhile, challenging the notice of the Raigarh Police, Anup Sai’s son Shubham on Monday filed a petition in a local court in Raigarh. Stating that there is a threat to his family, he prayed to the court to direct the police to come to Brajarajnagar for interrogation instead of summoning him and his family to Raigarh.
