Jharsuguda: In the latest development of the 2016 murder case of Kalpana Das and her minor daughter, family members of the prime accused, former MLA Anup Sai have demanded a CBI investigation.
Sai’s mother, wife, son, daughter, elder brother, sister-in-law and nephew have been sitting on dharna in front of the Collector’s office since Saturday evening seeking protection and justice.
The family had alleged that Chhattisgarh police had conducted a botched and biased investigation. Sai was forced to confess to the murders under duress and because of threats of dire consequences to us, said his elder brother Pramod Sai.
The inquiry and the statement made by Raigarh Police has been inconsistent, he alleged. “The actual turn of events will only come forward once the investigation is handed over to CBI,” he said.
