21 Drug Peddlers Arrested With Brown Sugar In Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: In major crackdown against drug trafficking, police made a significant breakthrough by arresting 21 people allegedly involved in brown sugar smuggling.

During a special operation, a team also seized of 213 grams of brown sugar, Rs 8.3 lakh in cash, and 13 mobile phones.

Acting on a credible intelligence input, police conducted a raid at Hatapada under Ghashipura Police Station limits. The crackdown was part of a larger effort to curb the rising drug menace in the Anandapur sub-division, a senior police official said.

Multiple police teams launched coordinated raids across Ghasipura, Anandpur, Nandipada, and Ramachandrapur police station areas.

Preliminary investigations showed that the narcotic drugs were being sourced from Bhadrak region and distributed extensively in Anandapur area of Keonjhar. The police will intensify efforts to dismantle the remaining network of drug racket
