Malkangiri: Officials of Civil Supplies Department on Thursday raided
as many as 21 rice mills in Malkangiri district over illegal
procurement of paddy.
During simultaneous raid, 21 teams of the department inspected the
mills and the stocks in presence of sub-collector Lingaraj Panda and
executive magistrate.
The raids were carried out in the district following complaints by
farmers regarding misappropriation of nearly 5 to 7 kg of paddy per
quintal by the mill owners.
“Strict owners will be taken against those found guilty and the miller
be debarred from procuring paddy, if required”, an official said.
