Bhubaneswar: The entry of the public to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office here was restricted on Thursday after 22 employees tested COVID-19 positive.
According to sources, the staff had undergone RT-PCT test and 22 among them were found infected after four officials from its engineering wing tested positive. More tests are being conducted.
Notably, Khurda reported 3,188 positive cases in the last 24 hours, ending at 9 am this morning, as the daily COVID caseload in the state breached the 10,000-mark.
The capital city has been witnessing a surge in cases with 803 being detected on Wednesday, 710 on Tuesday, 619 on Monday and 574 cases on Sunday.
In Capital Hospital, 25 doctors, nurses and staff have already been infected with COVID in the current wave.
Of the total Omicron cases reported in the state, 17 are from the city.
Bhubaneswar now has 4,622 active cases.
