Berhampur: At least 22 passengers were injured when a private bus in which they were travelling overturned near Gokarnapur of Digapahandi block in Odisha’s Ganjam district in the morning on Monday.
Sources said about 35 people of Salia Sahi in Bhubaneswar had begun their journey in a private bus on Sunday night to the Bankeswari Peetha in Digapahandi for the Darshan of the Goddess.
However, in the morning, the driver lost control of the vehicle which skidded off the road and fell into a ditch near Gokarnapur in Digapahandi Block. As a result, 22 passengers were injured.
The incident took place at about 7 am, eyewitnesses said.
Following information, police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to the Adapada PHC and Digapahandi government hospital from where all the injured were later shifted to to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
Till reports last came in, of the 22 injured, four of them of them have been shifted to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
