Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to sizzle under heatwave condition as 22 places in the state recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more on Saturday.
According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, Boudh was the hottest place in the state with a temperature of 42.5 degree Celsius. The industrial town in western Odisha replaced Baripada which recorded highest temperature for 3 consecutive days. The mercury in the small town in central Odisha dropped by 7.4 degree Celsius to 36.6 degree C.
Boudh was followed by Jharsuguda with 42.2 degree Celsius, Talcher 42, Bhubaneswar and Balangir 41.7, Rourkela 41.6, Cuttack and Bhawanipatna 41.2, Angul 41.1 and Titlagarh, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jajpur with 41 degree Celsius each.
The IMD has issued yellow warning with forecast of heatwave condition at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Sonepur and Boudh district.
The Met office has forecast that light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahahandi and Kandhamal in next 24 hours.
