Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda, the industrial town in western Odisha, was the hottest place in the state with a day temperature of 43 degree Celsius on Sunday.
According to the evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, as many as 22 places in the state recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius on the day.
While Jharsuguda topped the list, it was followed by Boudh with 42.5°C, Sambalpur 42.4, Talcher 42.2, Sundargarh, Titlagarh and Malkangiri 41.5°C each, Balangir 41.2, Angul 41.1, Rourkela 41, Hirakud 40.8, Bargarh 40.7, Bhawanipatna 40.5, Sonepur and Paralakhemundi 40.4 and Deogarh 40.1.
Similarly, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Kendrapada continued to reel under 40 degree Celsius.
The IMD has issued yellow warning and stated that thunderstorm with lightening is very likely to occur at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar and Bhadrak districts.
It has also forecast light to moderate rain or thunderstorm at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur and Nuapada by 8.30 am tomorrow.
