Angul/Khurda: As many as 23 houses were gutted in two separate fire mishaps that took place in the state on Wednesday.
The first incident was reported from Angul district where 20 houses were gutted when a fire broke out at Kumanda village due to cracker explosion in one of the houses.
No injury was reported in the incident. Fire tenders doused the blaze after a two-hour long effort.
Similarly, three houses were destroyed in a fire mishap at Sumudi village in Balipatna of Khurda district.
According to locals, the blaze was triggered by an electrical short circuit.
