Bhubaneswar: A 23-year-old woman from Odisha’s Balasore district was allegedly abducted by a local man and gang-raped by multiple individuals over the past six months.
According to police, she was held captive in Baripada, Mayurbhanj district. The woman, however, managed to escape recently and filed a complaint with Bhograi police on Tuesday.
“The woman’s mother had filed a complaint on March 3 alleging that her daughter had eloped with a man, taking ornaments worth over Rs 3 lakh. Accordingly, a case was registered,” Bhograi police station IIC Rohit Kumar Bal told PTI.
The IIC said that the woman was sent to a rehabilitation centre in Balasore and she underwent a medical examination on Wednesday. Efforts are underway to apprehend the accused persons, he added.
