Balasore: The Excise Department seized 23 gram of brown sugar and arrested one peddler from Jhadeswar slum here on Tuesday.
According to sources, the raid was conducted based on specific inputs. The peddler, identified as Anil Khatik of West Bengal, was nabbed selling the contraband to a customer and brown sugar worth of Rs 3 lakh seized from him.
The customer has also detained for interrogation, the sources added.
Notably, Khatik smuggled the contraband from West Bengal and used to sell it in Jaleswar area.
Further investigation is on.
