New Delhi: The security at Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Bandra has been heightened following the recent murder of politician Baba Siddique and threats from the Lawrence Bihsnoi gang. A heavy police presence has been deployed around the area.
Over 60 plain-clothed policemen have been stationed around Bandstand and near Galaxy Apartments, working 24/7 to monitor suspicious activity. These officers, adhering to a standard operating procedure (SOP), maintain constant vigilance over every movement in the vicinity. In addition, the Mumbai Police have installed AI-enabled high-resolution CCTV cameras equipped with facial recognition technology. These cameras can detect individuals who pass by multiple times, raising an alert if the same face is captured more than three times, suggesting potential reconnaissance. A dedicated command centre monitors the area around the clock, India Today reported.
The police deployment comes after a previous incident in April, when shooters linked to the Bishnoi gang attacked Khan’s residence, despite existing security cover.
According to the report, the area around Galaxy Apartments now resembles a police barrack, with security checkpoints at multiple locations and officers posted at strategic points. Visitors to the building are thoroughly screened, with all identities recorded and checked before entry. No unauthorised individuals or fans are allowed to gather outside the apartment.
Notably, the actor’sY-plus security cover includes a team of eight to ten armed policemen, some of whom travel with him. His movements are coordinated with local police stations, which secure the area before his arrival.
Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman lives adjacent to Salman’s building. There is a Parsi colony to the left. The amphitheatre is in front of the building, followed by the sea. An apartment building behind the ten-foot boundary wall is also monitored by plainclothes policemen. Additionally, police personnel are stationed along the boundary wall.
Salman Khan lives on the first floor with his parents, Salma and Salim Khan since childhood. He also owns a flat on the ground floor of the eight-floor building. The first floor has a balcony where Salman greets his fans during special occasions like Eid.
Security at Salman Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel has also been intensified. Police have set up blockades on the approach road, and visitors are stopped and cleared only after confirmation from his staff. CCTV surveillance and regular patrols further secure the area. Cops told India Today TV that the other residents of the building are irritated and sometimes furious due to the regular security checks. Even their guests have sometimes complained when they are frisked or questioned while visiting them.
Apart from that, there are two shops on the ground floor below Salman’s flat, and they are also frustrated with the heightened security, cops said.
