New Delhi: A 24-year-old woman was found dead at her matrimonial home in West Delhi’s Khyala area, with police arresting her husband and father-in-law on charges of dowry death following allegations of sustained har
assment over dowry demands.
According to police as cited in a HT report, the woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances, prompting an investigation. Her family alleged that she had been subjected to continuous harassment and cruelty by her husband and his family over dowry after her marriage. Based on their complaint, a case was registered under relevant provisions relating to dowry death and cruelty.
Police said the woman’s husband and father-in-law have been arrested, while efforts are underway to investigate the exact circumstances leading to her death. Officials are also examining evidence and recording statements of family members and other witnesses as part of the probe.
The woman’s body has been sent for post-mortem, the report of which is expected to help determine the precise cause of death. Further investigation is in progress.
