25 Passengers Killed As Bus Falls Into Gorge In Uttarakhand

Dehradun: A bus carrying nearly 50 passengers fell into a gorge in the Birokhal area of Dhumakot in Uttarkhand’s Pauri Garhwal district on Tuesday night. The bus was enroute to a village in Bironkhal from Laldhang when it met with the accident.

According to reports, 25 passengers were killed in the accident while 21 others were rescued by the state disaster response force and police after an overnight operation at the accident spot near Simdi village.

A wedding party from Laldhang area in Haridwar was travelling in the bus, ANI quoted the Haridwar SP as saying.

“Twenty-five people were found dead in the Pauri Garwhal bus accident that took place last night in the Birokhal area of Dhumakot. Police and SDRF rescued 21 people overnight. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals,” state police chief Ashok Kumar told ANI.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences over the deaths.
