Boudh: At least 25 students of a residential school in Odisha’s Boudh district fell ill after taking mid-day meal.
According to sources, the students, who stay in the hostel of Manipur Residential Model School under Harabhanga block, had taken mid-day meal served by the school authorities on Wednesday. Some of them complained of stomach pain at night and got relief after taking medicines given by the hostel staff.
On Thursday morning, around 25 hostel boarders complained of vomiting and dysentery. This time also, the hostel staff gave them medicines and the condition of 15 boarders improved.
But there was no respite from vomiting and dysentery in case of 10 students. As their condition deteriorated, they were taken in ambulance and admitted to community health centre (CHC) at Purunakatak.
While the cause of the students’ illness has not been confirmed, the school authorities refused to speak to media persons on the matter.
