Chennai: At least 25 people working for a Tamil television channel here on Tuesday tested positive for coronavirus, raising concerns over the safety of mediapersons working in the field covering the COVID pandemic.
“Not less than 25 people have tested positive ..(of the)..90 plus samples taken,” news agency PTI quoted a health department officer as saying.
Two days ago, two journalists, including one who works with the channel, were confirmed corona positive.
A video message circulated on the channel’s behalf said operations have been temporarily put on hold and work would resume soon.
On Tuesday, 76 people tested positive for the dreaded virus in Tamil Nadu, taking the total affect in the southern state to 1,596, official sources said. Eighteen persons, including one on Tuesday, have died.
