Sundargarh: The POCSO Court on Monday sentenced two persons to 25 years of imprisonment for raping a minor girl at Bonai in Odisha’s Sundargarh district in 2014.
The convicts have been identified as Tunu Kisan and Prahlad Kisan.
According to sources, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of the convicts and directed them to provide Rs 7 lakh compensation to the victim under Legal Services Authority.
Notably, the eight-year-old girl was raped by the duo when she went to a river near the village with her friends while attending a marriage ceremony on May 5, 2014. When the marriage was underway, the minor girl and her friends had visited near to the village river. Tunu and Prahalad asked her friends to leave the place. Then they gagged her with a towel and raped her.
They also threatened the girl with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to anybody.
The minor girl later told her grandfather about the incident following which, her family registered a case in this regard with police on May 19, 2014.
