Bhubaneswar: COVID toll in Odisha mounted to 8,476 on Friday with four more patients succumbing to the infection.
According to Health Department, one death each has been reported from Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Sundargarh districts.
Details of the deceased after the audit:
1. A 87 years old male of Bhadrak district.
2. A 36 years old female of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Rheumatic heart disease & Multiple sclerosis.
3. A 25 years old female of Jagatsinghpur district who was also suffering from Systemic lupus erythematosus, Discoid lupus erythematosus, neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus, Bronchial Asthma & Lymphopenia.
4. A 72 years old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
The state had reported three deaths due to the deadly virus the previous day.
Notably, there were 56 casualties in December. As many as 80 COVID deaths were reported in November, 134 in October and 346 in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in the Health Department.
The second wave of the pandemic had claimed 48 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
