Bhubaneswar: A total of 258 competitors, including 71 girls, from 20 districts will take part in the 62nd All Odisha State Swimming Championship (Junior & Sub-Junior) at the Biju Patnaik Swimming Pool Complex, Kalinga Stadium from May 28.
The three-day meet, being organised jointly by Sports and Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha and Odisha State Swimming Association under the aegis of Swimming Federation of India, will be conducted by around 50 technical officials.
Sports minister Tusharkanti Behera will inaugurate the championship on Saturday evening.
The best-performing swimmers will be rewarded with spots in the Odisha teams for the ensuing Sub-Junior National Aquatic Championship in Rajkot next month and the Junior Nationals to be held at Bhubaneswar from July 16-20.
