Bhubaneswar: The state government has set a target to cover 25 lakh farmers under Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) during 2017 Kharif, which is 8 lakhs more compared to last season.
In addition to paddy, groundnut, cotton, turmeric and ginger, two more crops arhar and maize have been included under the crop insurance cover this year.
The farmers will have to pay only 2% of the premium to avail this facility and the rest would be jointly borne by the central and the state governments.
