Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Infocity Police in Bhubaneswar have arrested a 26-year-old man wanted in a rape case registered three years ago.
The accused, identified as Shubhajit Pradhan, was taken into custody in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 23-year-ol
d woman from the Infocity area.
According to the complaint, the victim and Pradhan had celebrated her birthday together May 19, 2023, during which they exchanged gifts. He later allegedly took her to a hotel, where he raped her after making false promises of marriage. The accused then reportedly went absconding.
The victim filed a complaint at the Infocity police station shortly after the alleged assault. While the case remained under investigation, the police team continued to pursue leads, tracking contacts and gathering intelligence over time. Their persistent efforts finally paid off with Pradhan’s arrest in the state capital. He was subsequently produced before a local court
