New Delhi: With hardly a few months left for the Assembly elections, former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh may float a new political party within the next fortnight.
Media reports quoted sources as saying that nearly a dozen Congress leaders are in touch with the former CM, who is also consulting with his supporters on the next move. Amarinder Singh is also likely to meet some of the farmer leaders of Punjab.
Captain Amarinder Singh’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence in Delhi on Wednesday sparked off rumours of him joining the BJP. However, on Thursday, Amarinder Singh clarified that while he is not joining the BJP, he is also not staying the Congress.

Coming out of the crucial meeting with Amit Shah, Amarinder Singh had said he was there to discuss the farm laws issues with the Union minister.
Amarinder Singh has made it known that he is no longer a part of the Congress party and also his agenda of making sure that Navjot Singh Sidhu doesn’t win in the upcoming Punjab assembly elections.
A lot of drama has unfolded in Punjab in the last two weeks after Navjot Singh Sidhu was elevated as the Punjab Congress chief. This was followed by Amarinder Singh announcing his resignation as the chief minister as the Congress party rallied behind the new leader.
