Baridapa: President Droupadi Murmu flagged off three new trains – Badampahar-Tatanagar MEMU, Badampahar-Rourkela Weekly Express and Badampahar-Shalimar Weekly Express from Badampahar railway station in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.
After the event, the President boarded Badampahar Shalimar Express and travelled 32 km to Rairangpur.
Murmu, who is on a three-day visit to the state, also virtually inaugurated the new Rairangpur Postal Division, released a Commemorative Special Cover of Rairangpur Postal Division, and laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of Badampahar railway station on the occasion.
Governor Raghubar Das, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Bishweswar Tudu and state minister and local MP Sudam Marndi were present on the occasion.
The President also inaugurated a Skill Training Centre at Pahadpur in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha and visited SLS Memorial residential school in the same village where she interacted with the students. She also laid garland at the statue of late husband Shyam Charan Murmu at the school. She was accompanied by the Governor on this occasion.
Later in the evening, she will grace the 15th annual convocation of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla.
