Koraput: In a further boost to air connectivity in Odisha, a second direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Jeypore in Koraput took off on Monday.
The flight service, financially supported by the state government, will be operated by IndiaOne Air on Mondays and Fridays, every week.
According to IndiaOne Air’s official report, the flight will depart from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar at 7:10 am and arrive in Jeypore at 8.45 am. On the return direction, the flight will take off at 9 am from Jeypore and arrive in Bhubaneswar at 10:35 am.
The Ahmedabad-based airline, which completed one year of commercial operation on this route, is giving an inaugural offer of Rs 2999 for the month of November only. Tickets can be booked IndiaOne Air’s official website.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the flight service between Bhubaneswar and Jeypore on October 31 last year.
The airstrip in Jeypore was constructed in 1962 along with the establishment of a Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) factory in nearby Sunabeda area. In the 1980s, Vayudoot operated a daily Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam flight via Jeypore. It was upgraded to an airport under the UDAN scheme in 2017. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted the licence for the Jeypore airport, allowing commercial flight operations, on October 20.
