Bhubaneswar: After a male Golden Pheasant, another inmate of the Nandankanan Zoological Park near the city, a Himalayan bear, has died.
According to zoo sources, the Himalayan bear named ‘Moti’ was found dead on Friday night. It was suffering from old age ailments and was under treatment for over two months.
With the death of Moti, the number of the Himalayan bear in the zoo has come down to five. It was procured from Ranchi zoo under the animal exchange programme in 2013, the sources said.
It may be noted that the Golden Pheasant was found dead inside the enclosure in the zoological park on October 1. Though the exact cause of the bird’s death was not known, it was suspected that it might have died during a fight with other birds.
