Bhubaneswar: AirAsia flight 2472 en route Kolkata from Bengaluru made an emergency landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar after a passenger fell ill mid-air late on Saturday.
According to sources, the passenger collapsed on the flight following which the flight landed in Bhubaneswar for a medical emergency around 2.26 am. The passenger, identified as Taimur Ali Khan of West Bengal, was first attended by local doctors at the terminal and then shifted to Capital Hospital in coordination with ATC, ATM and medical staff. He, however, was declared dead by the doctors there.
The 28-year-old was a resident of Kotebarh in Bhagwanpur-I of Purba Medinipur district. A case of unnatural death has been registered here and his family informed about his death, the sources added.
Notably, an Air Asia Chennai-bound flight from Ranchi had to make an emergency landing in Bhubaneswar on January 9 evening after a 40-year-old passenger, Basant Kumar Paswan, complained of breathing problem. He, however, died while undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, the following day.
