Bhubaneswar: Three persons have been arrested by Bhubaneswar police for duping a man from Kanpur of Rs nine lakh by promising him to provide a ‘magical’ or antique mirror.
The Commissionerate Police arrested the three fraudsters from West Bengal in connection with the cheating case after a complaint was filed at Nayapalli Police Station in Bhubaneswar.
The accused have been identified as Partha Sinhgray (46), Molaya Sarkar (32) and Sudipta Sinha Ray (38). The trio had cheated Rs 9 lakh from one Avanish Ku Shukla of Kanpur, police said.
The trio claimed that the antique magic mirror had some special qualities and a person will appear naked while standing in front of it. One can see the skeleton if one goes farther, said police. Similarly, the image of the person will vanish if anyone goes close to the mirror.
The fraudsters also claimed that the mirror had some radioactive materials, as a result, it will also light bulbs after it is connected.
Police have seized a car, Rs 28,000 cash, a mobile phone having a video of the magic mirror, and blank agreement papers from the accused persons.
