Bengaluru: Three people were arrested for allegedly abducting, assaulting, stripping and holding a 30-year-old woman captive for four days in Bengaluru over a loan dispute. The accused also threatened to circulate a video of her in a semi-naked state if she failed to pay the money.
Out of the three accused, two were women, according to PTI.
The accused are Nazath Begam, Reshma Banu and her husband Suhel. Another suspect, Saif, has been named in the case.
The victim had reportedly borrowed Rs 50,000 from Nazath on a weekly repayment arrangement. She had also borrowed Rs 1 lakh from Reshma Banu on interest around two years ago. But she failed to repay in recent weeks.
Last month, Nazath allegedly called the woman to her house in Metro Layout on the pretext of offering her some work and money. According to a HT report, when the woman arrived with her minor son, Reshma, Suhel and two others allegedly entered the house and assaulted her and demanded Rs 11 lakh, including interest.
The woman and her child were allegedly forced into an autorickshaw and taken to a house in Kumbalgodu, where she was again assaulted and confined to a room.
The accused forced the woman to partially undress and recorded her on a mobile phone. They allegedly threatened to make the video viral if she failed to repay the loan.
The woman told police that her son was sent back to her mother’s house on August 29. But she was kept captive. She was allegedly taken to a lawyer and forced to sign some papers.
The woman was rescued on August 31 after she managed to alert the police.
