Varanasi: Five persons, including three children, were killed while at least 66 others were injured after a massive fire broke out at a Durga Puja pandal on Sunday night in Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi.

The fire broke out at around 9 pm when Mahasaptami ‘aarti’ was being performed. Over 150 people had gathered inside the pandal when the incident took place, according to media reports.

Overheating of a halogen light caused the fire, PTI quoted District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi as saying.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the deaths in the incident.
