3 Children Injured As Concrete Falls From Roof At Odisha Anganwadi Centre

Balangir: Three children sustained injuries after a large chunk of concrete fell from the roof of an Anganwadi centre at a village in Odisha’s Balangir district on Tuesday.

As per preliminary information, the incident took place at Kurlli village und

er Turekela block of the district during class hours in the morning.

As the concrete chunk suddenly fell, the three children were injured. The injured children, including two girls and a boy, were immediately provided medical assistance.

Sources said five children were struck when a portion of the ceiling suddenly gave way while lessons were in progress. The injured were rescued and admitted to the Kantabanji hospital for treatment.

The injured children reportedly suffered wounds to the head, neck and hands, while their condition is being monitored by doctors.

Preliminary reports indicate that continuous rainfall over the past three days may have weakened the structure, causing the concrete to detach from the Anganwadi centre roof.

However, parents have alleged that the incident was the result of poor quality work, and demanded a detailed investigation into the entire incident.
