Puri: At least three persons sustained critical burn injuries after the car they were travelling in dashed against an electric pole in Satyabadi area of Odisha’s Puri district on Saturday.
The mishap took place near Biragobindapur when the car was proceeding to Puri this afternoon. The vehicle caught after hitting the roadside electric pole, sources said.
The victims, stated to be residents of Kolkata, were reportedly proceeding to the pilgrim town for darshan at Shree Jagannath Temple.
On being informed, fire service and police personnel rushed to the site and rescued the victims. While the fire was doused, arrangements were made to send the injured persons to hospital.
While the exact reason behind the accident was yet to be ascertained, the driver was believed to have lost control over the vehicle near a curve, the sources added.
