Cuttack: At least three persons were critically injured in a violent clash between two rival groups armed with swords and other weapons over political enmity at a village in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Wednesday.
Members of one of the warring groups reportedly hurled crude bombs at Amrutamanohipatana village under the jurisdiction of Athagarh police station.
At least four bombs were hurled by the group members during the clash, sources said. Some unexploded bombs were also recovered from the village.
At three persons sustained grievous injuries as the rival groups attacked each other with swords and other weapons. The injured have been admitted to Athagarh hospital where the condition of one was stated to be very critical.
Locals said the incident was triggered by past political enmity between the two groups. The immediate cause was stated to be diverse views over a road connecting the cremation ground of the village. The two groups reportedly have been involved in fights in recent past.
On being informed, Athagarh police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation into the incident. Further details are awaited.
