Jagatsinghpur: Three persons were injured, two of them critically, after the vehicle of a Tehsildar hit a roadside tree in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Thursday.
The mishap took place near Sandhapur on Cuttack-Paradip road when the vehicle carrying officials was returning to Kujang after a meeting in Jagatsinghpur, sources said.
The vehicle skidded off the road and dashed against a tree apparently after the driver lost control over the wheels.
While Kujang Tehsildar was not travelling in the vehicle, Additional Tehsildar Baidhar Pradhan and head clerk of Tehsil office Lala Amarendra Rai were grievously injured in the accident. The driver of the vehicle also sustained injuries.
The injured were rescued by locals and taken to hospital at Kujang. The Additional Tehsildar and the head clerk were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
