Jeypore: Three persons were critically injured after a train hit a car in which they were travelling at an unmanned railway level crossing in Odisha’s Koraput district on Sunday.
According to reports, a doctor along with his family of Semiliguda in the district had gone in their new car to the waterfall at Punjisil on sightseeing. While returning, the car got stuck on the train tracks at the unmanned railway level crossing near Kellar village between Damanjodi and Baiguda.
Despite the doctor’s best efforts, he could not get the car off the tracks and before the family could come out of the vehicle, a goods train hit it with a heavy force. On the impact of the collision, the car was thrown off to a distance of around 50 ft, the reports said.
Following the accident, the villagers of Kellar rushed the seriously injured family to Damanjodi hospital. Their condition was critical, hospital sources said.
