Kendrapada: The three-day annual dolphin census in the water bodies of Bhitarkanika and Gahirmatha in Odisha’s Kendrapada district began at 6 am on Thursday.
Nine teams comprising 29 members equipped with binoculars, GPS handsets, cameras/handycams are conducting the headcount exercise, which will continue till December 18.
Odisha had seen a drop in dolphin population in 2020 when only 62 of the aquatic species were sighted.
