3-Day Festival Of Words And Colours ‘Yuvaayan’ Kicks Off

Bhubaneswar: Young writers Badal Mohanty and Shakti Mohanty received Timepass Booker award for the year 2016 and 2017 respectively at the inaugural function of ‘Yuvaayan’ held at the Bhanjakala Mandap here on Friday.

The three-day festival of words and colours was inaugurated by noted writer Devdas Chhotray and Odia Actress Tripura Mishra.

Badal Mohanty got the award for his novel ‘Nattu’ and Shakti Mohanty for his story book titled ‘Casino’.

The publications house Timepass, founded by Saroj Bal, has been giving this annual literary award to Odia writers below the age of 45.

 The award includes a citation and a memento.

Besides, Pragyanshree Rath’s novel ‘Darpan Sundari’,  Bharat Majhi’s book ‘Majhi Geeta’, and Parambrahma Tripathy’s ‘Kichhi Kahibara Achhi’ received ‘Timepass bestseller’ award.

Young bookworm Ajay Khuntia got ‘Timepass Bahibandhu Sammana’. Jnanee Debashis Mishra’s poetry collection ‘Daga’ and poet Suryasnata Tripathy’s poetry collection, ‘A Samparka Emiti’ received ‘Timepass Swayamshri Sammana’ on the ocassion. Both these books are published by the Timepass and have already been received Kendra Sahitya Akademi youth awards.

Saroj Bal gave a brief introduction of the three-day programme. Presentation and discussion on different genres of art like, literature, paintings, cinema, dance, song, drama and photography will be held in these three days, said Bal.

Young writer Netaji Abhinandan gave welcome address and Pragyan Paramita Rath coordinated the programme.
