Bhubaneswar: The COVID toll in Odisha touched 8,594 on Sunday with the highest of 19 deaths being confirmed on a single day during the third wave in the last 24 hours.
According to Health and Family Welfare Department, five casualties are from Khurda and three from Ganjam followed by two each from Ganjam and Nabarangpur, and one each from Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Puri.
Details of the deceased:
1. A 66 years old male of Angul district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Coronary Artery Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease.
2. A 37 years old male of Angul district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension.
3. A 3 days old male child of Bhadrak district who was also suffering from Congenital Heart Disease.
4. A 83 years old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
5. A 58 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension.
6. A 80 years old male of Bhubaneswar.
7. A 62 years old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension & Severe Anaemia.
8. A 67 years old female of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Chronic Kidney Disease, Dilated Cardiomyopathy.
9. A 65 years old female of Dhenkanal district who was also suffering from Acute Myelogenous leukaemia.
10. A 52 years old male of Ganjam district.
11. A 40 years old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
12. A 1 years old female of Ganjam district.
13. A 63 years old female of Jajpur district who was also suffering from Carcinoma Breast, Diabetes Mellitus.
14. A 45 years old male of Keonjhar district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Coronary Artery Disease.
15. A 48 years old male of Khurda district who was also suffering from Carcinoma Lungs, Hypertension.
16. A 66 years old male of Mayurbhanja district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension.
17. A 37 years old male of Nabarangapur district.
18. A 67 years old male of Nabarangapur district.
19. A 38 years old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Decompensated Chronic Liver Disease
Odisha had confirmed 15 deaths on Saturday and 10 deaths on Friday. The state had seen eight deaths on Thursday.
Notably, Odisha has so far reported 128 COVID deaths in January.
There were 56 casualties in December. As many as 80 COVID deaths were confirmed in November, 134 in October and 346 in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in the Health Department.
