Berhampur: In a tragic incident, a couple, who had married three days back, died in a road accident in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday.
According to sources, the mishap took place when the newly married couple, G Venu and his wife CH Pratima of Ichhapur in Andhra Pradesh, were coming on a motorcycle to Berhampur. Pratima’s parents stay in the city.
While going on National Highway-16, they collided with a tractor coming from opposite direction at Golanthara in the evening.
As both Venu and Pratima sustained serious injuries and started bleeding, the locals rushed them to MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur. But the couple succumbed during treatment in the hospital.
The police have seized the tractor, but its driver is absconding.
