Dhenkanal: A newly-married woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the house of her in-laws in the district on Saturday.
According to reports, the woman, identified as Jharana Nayak, had married Madanmohan Nayak of Bidyabandha village under Sadar police limits on Wednesday last. On Saturday morning, she did not come out of her room in her in-law’s house late in the morning.
When the members of her in-law family knocked on her door, Jharana did not open. Suspecting something serious, they broke open the door to find her handing from the ceiling fan inside the room.
On being informed, police reached the house and sent the body for post-mortem. The police have registered an unnatural death case and launched investigation. The cause of alleged suicide has not been confirmed.
