3 Die As Truck Overturns After Crashing Into Tea Stall In Odisha’s Sundargarh

Rourkela: Three persons died after a speeding Hyva truck, carrying iron rods, crashed into a roadside tea stall and overturned at K Balanga in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Sunday evening.

The deceased include Sambari Mundari, owner of the tea stall, and drivers of other trucks. Sambari’s husband and a 14-year-old girl were also seriously injured in the accident, which occurred near Jamudihi tollgate under K Balanga police limits around 7 pm.

On being informed, police pulled the bodies out of the damaged tea stall with the help of Fire Service personnel and sent them for postmortem. Others trapped under the debris were rescued using a crane and admitted to a hospital in Rourkela for treatment.

The truck has been seized and an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances under which the truck veered off the road and rammed into the stall.
