Sambalpur: Three persons have been detained for alleged gang rape of a girl in Kuchinda area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district, police informed on Friday.
According to Kunchinda SDPO Amitabh Pand, the 3 suspects were detained on the basis of a complaint lodged by the survivor at Govindpur police station. “A 21-year girl had alleged that three youths gang-raped her on Wednesday night. They have been detained and the case is being investigated by a DSP rank officer,” he said.
The incident took place while the woman was returning home after visiting Tangaramunda SBI branch. Two youths offered her a lift in their bike and allegedly gang-raped her at different locations. Later, another youth allegedly raped her in a car.
The four-wheeler has been seized from the detainees, police added.
